Why do they say pregnancy is NINE months?

Q. I've always been told that pregnancy lasts nine months, but with so many of my friends pregnant, they're using pregnancy calculators on facebook and it says pregnancy lasts 40 weeks, which is TEN months! What the heck? If that's right, then why have we always been told nine months? Why is it in the media? Why do they name fricken MOVIES after nine-month pregnancies just to confuse the crap out of us?

An explanation would be great, because everything I thought I knew about being pregnant is probably wrong. Thanks.

A. Well it's 9 months because months have more than 4 weeks the average is 4 weeks 3 days (4.33).
If you divide that by 40 you get 9.2 which would be 9 months 2 weeks but did you know the first 2 weeks of pregnancy you are actually not pregnant? But because doctors don't know the exact day that conception happen they start to count from your LMP.
Confusing right? But that is how it works.

Did eating too many sweets make you have a big baby?
Q. I think I'm addicted to carbs and sugar! I love to eat italian bread, pasta, ice cream, and other sweets. Since I've been pregnant it seems to be worse (for awhile I was eating a McFlurry a day). I still eat a good variety of fruits and veggies, and my weight gain has been mostly in my belly. I'm at the end of my pregnancy (40+5) and I'm afraid I'll have trouble delivering. Did anyone have a similar situation?

A. It will affect how big you get, but not how big your baby gets. The size of the baby is about genetics not what you ate.

How can I give a 50 minute class about th topic teen pregnancy for school?
Q. I use the word class because I have to talk about teen pregnancy for about 40 minutes in my paternity class in school. How could I introduce the topic, what should I talk about it, I need to make this. What kind of info should I bring and talk about please?
I want to make this extra well made because on the day I have to talk about the topic, it also happens to be my birthday. XD
Good detailed answers please, this is in 3 weeks.

A. Well I think it would be useful for you to interview a teen mom and ask her questions about what it's like being a teen mom and such. Look up statistics. State if you think it is a problem in America and your viewpoints.

Who out there remembers how many weeks until labor it is after the baby has dropped into place? I am on 4th.?
Q. I am 28 weeks into pregnancy, 40 years old and on my 4th pregnancy and dropped on week 27 exactly. I have forgotten how many weeks it is until labor after this.

A. My baby boy dropped at 32 weeks and went breech at 37. Babies have a way of doing what they want when they want.
