What is a good pregnancy diet?

Q. Just wondering about a well balanced pregnancy diet. I would like to know how much water I should be drinking. (if you could tell me how many oz that would be great!) Also how many calories I should be eating throughout my pregnancy to not overeat. Thank you!

A. 64 ounces a day.
Check with your physician who is handling your pregnancy for diet and any restrictions, like sugar, salt etc.
Don't forget exercise, walking about 20 to 30 minutes a day will make you feel mentally better and physically better
Good luck and congrat's on your being blessed

What is a healthy diet while pregnant?
Q. Can anyone enlighten me on what a healthy pregnancy diet consists of? What is a safe calorie count? I don't want to over eat, but I also don't want to deny my baby any nutrients by not eating enough. Thanks!

A. It's best to talk to your doctor, but for the most part they prefer you err on the side of caution and make sure you get all the nutrients you need. I had a dietitian tell me (and I was already overweight) that if ice cream was the only way I could get calcium in my diet then by golly, ice cream it is. (I managed to find some yogurt that I liked).

If you are of a normal healthy weight, you only need to add about 300 additional calories to your day. If you are underweight or low on the healthy scale they'll want you to add more, and if you're overweight they'll encourage you to make sure not to add any more than 300.

But aside from having 1-2 extra servings of dairy products, it's the same diet is that is considered healthy to all adults. That's a variety of foods from each of the food groups. If you're suffering from morning sickness, just do what you can. Your body has a wonderful way of making sure the baby's needs are met first so if anyone is going to suffer it will be mom.

Also remember to take a daily prenatal vitamin, regardless of how well you eat.

How can I lose weight safely during pregnancy?
Q. I was trying to lose weight before getting pregnant. Im about 8 weeks and sooo bloated. Im nacious constantly so I have to eat small meals every couple of hours. Im also trying to get better at drinking more water and working out a little.
So is there some kind of pregnancy diet that will help the baby grow but help me lose fat?

A. No, dieting is never safe during pregnancy. Only things you can really do are eating healthy, drinking lots of water, and exercising. But dont overdue the exercise, only do what your doctor approves.I know how you feel, I am 24 weeks and have been bloated since 6 weeks. At this point the bloating is gone now and my belly is finally baby and not just air haha but i understand wanting to diet, but just remember its a few months and then you will be able to go back to it, for now, you need to do whats best for baby. Good luck :)

Did any pregnant ladies strictly watch their diet and still gain a lot of weight?
Q. I avoided sweets, fried foods, soft drinks, and junk food and I still gained 55 pounds. I followed my pregnancy diet to the letter. Did anyone else have this happen?

A. Me too though I did not eat exactly healthy all the time, I do have sweets here and there and im at gaining 45lbs so far and im 37 weeks, though over half of my weight gain is swelling, the doctor said its mostly fluid. I swell to the maximum, its ridiculous! I am so ready to have my baby, I look puffy 24/7 because all this fluid!
