Q. Before I got pregnant I was always told that you would be getting a whole bunch of vaginal exams during pregnancy, like almost every time you go to the OB.
I'm 22 weeks 5 days pregnant and the only vaginal exam I have had was the standard one at the first appointment.
So when do you start getting the exams?
I'm just curious

A. As with the first answer it is never a good idea unless there is a medical reason. Most of the time if you are with your OB a vaginal exam is purley for his benefit so if he feels your cervix and it is closed and hard at 38 weeks then he will immediatly start scaring you and may bring up the idea od being induced, which is totally wrong as you can be hard and closed and have your baby at the end of the night or you can be open a few centiemetres and be soft and not go into labour for weeks and end up being very overdue.

Again ask why ask specifically, is there a problem? What is the reason for the vaginal exam, what info they hope to obtain and how will it alter the labour management?
Its very important to ALWAYS remember that when you are in a hospital, no-one HAS TO DO ANYTHING! All treatment is by consent and patient choice ONLY. Policy is not law and procedure being done against your will is grounds to sue. Doctors / midwives need YOUR permission to do anything to your body. If they arent convinced there is a good reason for a procedure then decline it
While there will be times when obstetric intervention is necessary, there is a little acronym you can remember to get a better idea if the intervention you are being offered is warranted:
B.R.A.N.
What are the B*ENEFITS? (of this being done)
What are the *RISKS? (of this being done)
Are there A*LTERNATIVES? (than this being done)
Does it need to be done *NOW?

When did you feel best during pregnancy? How far along were you?
Q. I am 10 weeks 5 days and constantly sick to my stomach with 24 hour nausea. I am soooo ready to start feeling well. When did you start feeling well in your pregnancy? When did you feel the best?
A. my nausea was gone by 12wks, it just stopped one day! But the best part of the pregnancy is between 18-26wks I find. You are still agile enough to be able to do most things comfortably, you're not so tired and your apetite is at its best. Just take it day by day and you'll be feeling better in no time!
How do your kids feel about your pregnancy?
Q. How do your kids feel about your pregnancy?
Im 33 weeks, and my 5 year old son is absolutely in love with my belly. He rubs it, and kisses it, and talks to it every chance he can. He asks me everyday when his brother is going to be here. And every morning when he wakes up, he looks in his soon-to-be little brothers bassinet to see if he's there yet.

A. My 4 year old is excited! I told her before her daddy cause he was out to sea. She ended up telling the bus driver then next day. :) She's really excited and very helpful.
How big is the uterus in early pregnancy?
Q. I JUST found out I am pregnant. I am only 3 weeks, 5 days with my second pregnancy. Is my uterus still behind my pubic bone even though I have been pregnant before? The reason I ask is that I just fell asleep with my book bag on my lower stomach for about thirty minutes and now I am cramping and am afraid I may have hurt something. Is the uterus still protected by my pubic bone?
A. Yes, it's still behind the pubic bone.
Don't worry.
Congrats!
