Q. Meaning, if I'm 8 weeks pregnant, that really means conception occurred about 6 weeks ago but you're counting from your period date?
A. Yes pregnancy is counted from the start of your last period! This being becasue it is to unpredictable to say when you ovulated and when conception occurred! That is an estimate of 6 weeks ago for conception because it could just as likely have occurred 5 weeks ago! I wouldn't worry about when baby was conceived and concentrate on things like due date and how far along you are at this point! You should be seeing an OB/GYN in the next few weeks for your important first appointment! Here is some cool sites on pregnancy that I like and maybe you'll find them fun too! I also gave you a pregnancy due date calculator! Good luck!
Do you start calculating pregnancy the day of intercourse?
Q. I know they say to calculate based on your last menstrual cycle but mine has always been extremely irregular and I have no idea when that was. The only thing I am sure about is the exact date of intercourse. So I would like to know straight up whether I can start counting 9 months from that date? If I do that then I am 6 weeks pregnant but I would like to know if that is accurate?
A. That's how I calculated my due date as I had irregular cycles at the time, but I had only had sex the one time. Baby was born right on time. The doc used measurements at 6 months to make a due date estimate and our estimates only varied by 3 days. Keep in mind that there will be some variance because you don't actually get pregnant the day you have sex. It is way more accurate if you have irregular cycles!
If you look for due date calculators, there are ones that are based on conception date. Try some of those to work it out. It is not true that you must have an ultrasound to figure out a due date. When you only had sex once during a whole cycle, it doesn't take expensive technology to figure it out.

When should day 1 of pregnancy start after sex?
Q. When should I count day 1 of pregnancy after I have sex? (If ever I became pregnant with that intercourse)
A. Pregnancy calculators calculate your pregnancy timeline starting with your last period (so about two of those weeks you actually weren't even pregnant...)
What are the earliest signs of pregnancy?
Q. Me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex a couple of weeks ago (stupid, I know)
I'm a little worried now, are there usually any signs this early? And if so, what are they?
Thanks.
Yeah I'm getting PMS things and insomnia but my period isn't due for at least 2 weeks.

A. Don't get a head of yourself. The early signs of pregnancy are so similar to PMS that there really is no way to tell until you miss a period. Think about when you had sex and when your last period was. You can go to this site: http://www.babycenter.com/ovulation-calculator and find out what your fertile time is. Just FYI you can ovulate any time but this will give you an estimate of the most likely time that you were fertile.
