What are other factors that cause your period to be late besides stress and pregnancy?

Q. I took a pregnancy test at planned parenthhood and it was negative. And I am not all that stressed, but my period is still late! Im not sure what else could be causing this. There hasn't been any changes in my diet or anything either. HELP.
I am 17 years old and my period comes every 28 days for the last several months. Thats why it's weird that out of no where it is late. I know it isn't normal.

A. This depends how old you are. The length of time between your periods can vary if you are either quite young or towards the end of your child-bearing years. If you are very regular, then you know you are late. Some medications can interfere with your cycle, some medical conditions, if you go too thin then your periods will stop as you will not have enough body fat to produce a baby.

Have a look at on-line symptoms checker websites if you have any other symptoms.

how soon can a ultrasound pick up pregnancy?
Q. i had a ultra sound yesterday to check for cysts ect and im having pregnancy symptoms yet they couldnldnt see anything. conception would have only been 1 week ago so would they have been able to see anything after only a week?

A. Go to WebMD.com and they have a symptom checker. You just type in the symptoms you are having, and it comes out with some possibilities.
They usually don't recommend an ultrasound until at least 10 weeks because at most instances, they can detect a heartbeat from the fetus at that time, sometimes not.
Also, go to a pregnancy website and it shows you how everything develops after conception.
Here is a website to try:

This one is very informative...shows pictures!
But also do the WebMD.com symptom checker.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Light bleeding a couple of days before period?
Q. My period is due on Friday-Saturday, and I noticed yesterday that I was experiencing some light bleeding. I am little concerned because I never saw that before. Pregnancy is not a possibility, so what else could it be?

A. It could be simple spotting. I'm not a professional but I've had it before. I'm not a mother and have never been pregnant... as far as I know. lol. Occasional spotting happens. I would suggest you check out webmd.com and go to the symptom checker... follow the directions and it'll give you some ideas as to what could be going on. possibly ask a doctor? I honestly think it's something normal caused by stress, change in sexual intercourse, or something along those lines. If it continues, I would strongly suggest you see a doctor about it. hope this helps.

How to deal with serious constipation?
Q. I had a baby about 1 year ago, and I have been constipated ever since. It just doesn't "fit through" anymore.

I've tried everything.... could I have been stiched up wrong after vaginal delivery (with a pretty bad tear?)

Any off the wall ideas for helping constipation, I've tried all the normal advice.

A. I have suffered from chronic constipation for more than 30 years. I have had several invasive surgeries to correct problems caused by severe constipation, and doctors have put me on many different fibers, laxatives, probiotics and medications over the years. They were not only expensive, but most didn't help. I was on Nulytely for many years, and my doctors told me I would have to take it daily for the rest of my life. Also, I have suffered from irritable bowel syndrome since the onset of my first pregnancy.
A couple of months ago, I began taking an Advocare product called ProBiotic Restore (http://tinyurl.com/2hbyyp) I have not even take a stool softener since I began this product, and I am regular for the first time in more than 30 years! This product has made an incredible difference in my regularity, cramping and pain, and in the health of my colon!
It really works! I have tried so many other probiotics, stool softeners, etc over the years ... to no avail! This condition is sooo uncomfortable and even painful - unless you suffer from it, people really don't understand.
You may want to see a colon/rectal specialist. You may have developed rectocele - a condition where the rectum falls into the vagina, making it difficult to have a bowel movement.
Go to http://www.helpforchronicallyill.com Look in the health info section at the symptom checker. You may really want to consider the Probiotic Restore by AdvoCare. I am more thankful for this product than for any supplement or medication I have ever taken! If the "tiny url" doesn't take you to it, you can get to AdvoCare's site through the help for chronically ill site.
Good luck. I truly do understand your issue, and it is not fun!
