When did people realize it was bad to smoke while pregnant?
Q. When and why did it become a bad idea to smoke cigarettes during pregnancy?Didn't women smoke (and drink for that matter) while they were pregnant in the 1920's,30's,40's,50's,60's,and maybe the 70's?I dont condone smoking during pregnancy,I was just wondering what made people stop doing it and when that happened?
A. It was in the 60s I believe. Its when medical science began to understand the issues associated with smoking and started making recommendations against pregnant women smoking.
What category does this fall under for my outline - biological or behavioral?
Q. Is a mother smoking during pregnancy and the effects of the nicotine on the fetus a biological or behavioral factor? Or is it neither? If neither, what would it be under - what category?
A. I think when compared to the fetus it would be biological, because being in the mother's womb, they have no control over nicotine having an effect. When compared to the mother, it would be behavioral because it's her habit that she has control over.
Can smoking and rigorous exercise push back by period?
Q. I've been working out a lot, and been smoking (blacks) a bit for a while now (about a month). I just had sex too,and I'm about a week late. Is it the exercise and smoking or pregnancy?
P.S. Protected sex for the most part! But then it broke, but came outside!

A. Rigorous exercise can change your monthly. Smoking shouldn't have much effect. If you had unprotected sex, then obviously pregnancy may be an explanation; you probably should get tested.
