what is the best way to lose weight when breastfeeding?
Q. i have exclusively breastfed my 8 month old daughter from day one, but i havent lost any weight, instead i have gained 10 pounds since i had her. I am desperately wanting to lose all that weight but i dont know how since im still breastfeeding. Any help will be appreciated. I have started walking 4 miles 5 times a week, I dont know if that will help me. What else can i do? Please help me.Thanks

A. How much do you eat? I breastfed on 1500 calories a day. When my body had lost all the fat store (30lbs) my supply dropped and I had to go up to about 2100 a day. Use a food/calorie tracker and slowly drop your calories. and if your supply drops from lack of calories, add more. Make sure your eating only foods that have a lot of nutritional value (like oats and grains, semi lean meats, fruits veggies yogurts unsweetend cereals) and not empty calories like sugars, potato chips. Switch to almond milk if you drink a lot of milk.
Have you considered a thyroid issue? Sometimes a pregnancy can trigger a thyroid problem.

I wanted to get peoples opinions on the gps microchip for children?
Q. I personally think its a great idea in many ways! If. It weren't science fiction i would definitely have one implanted in my children for safety reasons! There are scary people out there that wouldnt think twice about snatching a child away from their parents and with this tracking device it gives your child a greater chance of surviving his/her captor and it gives the police a greater chance in catching the suspect! It
would also give us parents peace of mind!

With that being said what are your opinions?

A. I can see quite a few advantages in it. However, I'd be too afraid of all the possible bad things that could happen with it. Someone else mentioned something about tumors; I don't know if that's true or not, but I would definitely not want to be part of the first generation of testers. Someone else mentioned the government. I'm still torn on how trustworthy the government is. I have no problem with chips being used to track down a kid who committed a murder, but I do have a problem with the idea of someone using it to stalk my kid for no apparent reason.

Although, I will admit, that sometimes I've thought about how convenient it would be for the parents of defiant teenagers to have these implants to help them keep track. My brother sure sbould have been put on a leash when he was a teenager! With my mom as a single parent, and my brother as a weight lifting punk, he never listened to her when she put him on restriction and she was always afraid to reprimand him...but atleast with a tracker she could have known where he was at when he told he was going to the mall or when he ran away. But again, I'm sure there would be parents who would abuse it.

If these things did exist and were proven safe, I think there should be some sort of rule with it that said at 18, the child should have the right to know that he or she had it and would have the right to have it removed at the cost of the parents. But even so, I picture some sort of anti-tracking gang hanging out in an abandoned building with some sort of surgical knives, ready to pull the device out of anybody for a price...and like these "undercover pregnancy aborters", you know it wouldn't be safe.

I'm just plain torn...there's too many negatives to go with the positives. I wouldn't be picketing against it with the protesters, but I probably wouldn't do it to my kids.

Any good tips on how to loose pregnancy weight?
Q. I am a mom of seven, and I am due to have triplets in april. I usually just walk like mad after the kids are born but with triplets this may not be possible....it may sound shallow and I love my kids but I must also maintian my figure any advise. Thank you in advance

A. I gained 60 lbs with my son!! Yikes! I admit that, after giving birth, it took a while for me to get motivated to lose the weight-about 9 months. I did Weight Watchers Points but ONLY because you can sign up online and not have to go to the meetings that I totally didn't have time for. There is an online point calculator that tells you the point value-which you can start to do in your head after a few weeks. It also has a tracker that keeps track of points for you and all you have to do is input your food and exercises. There is also recipes and support groups all online. I LOVED it and lost my weight in about 4 months! I liked it b/c it was structured and that's what I need. Plus, it also helps if your husband does it with you. Good luck!
