What can I do to limit endometriosis damage and get pregnant?

Q. I have had endometriosis pretty bad since high school and even had an ovary removed. My husband and I are trying to concieve, but have little information about how to increase our odds. We went through 3 rounds of fertility treatment and had no luck with the drugs/iui combo. Any similar cases out there? Any suggestions? Any hope?

A. I was diagnosed with stage II of endometriosis a year after I graduated high school. My hubby and I are in the same boat as you guys, however, it has only been 3 months since my laparoscopy/D&C. So they won't be able to offer me any fertility treatments or drugs until after we have been trying for a year. My obgyn recommended that if we are serious about TTC, then to have intercourse every other day during ovulation. Also, taking prenatal vitamins ahead of time will further prepare your body for a pregnancy. Try cutting out or lowering your daily intake of caffeine, and eating healthier; this will increase your chances significantly, as opposed to eating junk food and drinking sodas all the time. Staying healthy when TTC is very important. I wish I had more information to give, as I am somewhat in the same situation as you. But since I have had no luck so far myself, it's hard to say which methods work the best. I didn't know of anyone else who has endometriosis as well, until I read your post. It definitely comes as somewhat of a relief to know that you are not alone, and that somewhere out there there are other women going through the same struggles.
I wish you the best of luck, and if for some reason I should figure the solution out soon, I will let you know; or vice versa lol.
Good luck & God Bless!

how long is it until endometriosis stops the ability to be pregnant?
Q. I have endometriosis, I didn't find out till a few days ago. And I would like to know how long it would take for it to process before it stops the possibility to be pregnant?

A. That's a false misconception. My OBGYN told me 42 yrs ago that I had endometriosis and the best way to make it better (for lack of a better word) was pregnancy. There's something about the hormones and pregnancy that helps the endometriosis. I had 4 children without incident. I felt so much better during pregnancy, no pain or anything. It was when I decided not to have any more children that the endometriosis really came back with a vengeance. I ended up have a complete hysterectomy at 35 because of it. So don't worry about having a baby, it will not affect it any way. I know there will be a lot of women out there saying I'm wrong, but I am living proof you can get pregnant with endometriosis.

Have anyone had an etopic pregnancy but was able to have a successful pregnancy afterward?
Q. I'm 22 years old, and have already had an etopic pregnancy. I don't have STD's, so i don't really know what caused it.I still have both of my tubes..The doctor said now my chances of getting it again is very hing, but have anyone had an etopic pregnancy and was able to have a successful pregnancy? What can i do to have a successful pregnancy?

A. I also had an ectopic pregnancy and yet I got pregnant again within like 9 months! And I was on the Ortho Evra patch at the time. Not saying I never wanted to have kids, but I usually go to school full-time (except for this past Spring semester 2009 where I dropped to part-time) and I'm trying to get my Degree A.S.A.P. cuz I am an older non-traditional student, so time is $$$$.
I never had anything but the methotrexate shot. NO surgery whatsoever, fortunately for me.
I have never had any STD's. However, for myself what most likely caused my Ectopic pregnancy was the fact I have had endometriosis symptoms since age 15 (which may eventually render me infertile). This condition causes me to vomit every period unless I take an OC or some stronger meds. It also causes severe dymennorhea.

This pregnancy (technically my 2nd, but my first child, and also come to think of it, I had no morning sickness the FIRST pregnancy either, lol and I was nearly 8 weeks along when it ended)...I have had no morning sickness (unless you count mild and rare nausea) and that was awesome for a woman whose periods can cause her to throw up at the smell of bacon and other odors, without medication to control it. This time, except for some unexplained bleeding for nearly 2 weeks during my 2nd or 3rd month, which could be because at time I was walking miles and miles each week (I thought, "OH boy, another ectopic?) I was have been doing great and have had no unexplained bleeding since early trimester.

I just had a 3rd trimester check-up today and have gained 22 lbs so far. (4 during first trimester, and 5 lbs a month each month beginning at 20 weeks, believe it or not...). Baby is always active and kicking up a storm. He was boxing in his nearly-15-week ULtrasound, lol. Incidentally, I do absolutely no routine exercise this pregnancy since my bedrest for light bleeding. I do get exercise but it's not a routine and it's very much just "around the house" not planned. (I know, not exactly "super-healthy", but I feel like I don't want to overdo after the bleeding and I have a wonderful OB Team of Doctors and Nurses and Staff support so if I need to step it up, I can and will!)

Timing is everything. Be in a committed relationship. My husband and I are due to have a boy in a few months. The less stress the body is under the better for your maintaining and keeping a healthy pregnancy.

Any questions message me.

What are my chances of having kids with having endometriosis twice?
Q. I had the surgery when i was 17 and now im almost 20 and the endometriosis come back 3 months later after the surgery. So right now I am putting up with the pain, but my biggest concern or Fear is that I wont be able to have children? Does anyone know what the chances are of me being able to have them?

A. Not impossible, but not a high chance without medical intervention. You're also at a high risk of having an ectopic pregnancy due to tubal blockages caused by the tissue growth. Discuss this with your doctor, they can give you options to up your chances.

I wish you the best.

Edit-
Correction; women have a 20% chance of conceiving each month, not 40%. And that's with healthy, fertile couples!
