Does a fetus/embryo sleep right away?
Q. On www.3dpregnancy.parentsconnect.com they have a weekly pregnancy calendar and it says at 20 weeks (which is where i am now) that the baby now develops sleeping patterns similar to a newborns. Do they not sleep before then?
A. Well I think that they meant was that they develop a sleeping pattern like newborns have, sleeping for periods of time, waking, movement, sleeping, etc. I do believe that a fetus will sleep during all phases of pregnancy but I've honestly never wondered when they begin sleeping. This is actually an awesome question that has me stumped. I hope someone has a good scientific answer.
I DO know however that at the 32nd week of gestation, a fetus will begin R.E.M sleep and dream! Interesting isn't it? I wonder what babies dream about considering they have no "world" experience. I know that we as young children and adults dream of things we've seen with our own eyes, but what does an unborn baby dream of?

Is it normal to have a belly at 5 weeks...?
Q. I am only 5 weeks pregnant. I am over weight and have a belly on my own. My boobs have always been bigger then my stomach. I am maintaining my weight but for some reason my stomach is bigger and now is bulging out making it bigger then my boobs. Is this due to pregnancy? Due to not having a flat stomach i have no idea what should or shouldn't be. If it is due to pregnancy why?

A. No, its not possible. Some people get bloated the first few weeks and that could be the reason you feel like that. Sometimes you make yourself believe that your showing when your not. I wasn't the skinniest girl ever and with my baby (first) I didn't really show till 5 months which was around 20 weeks.
All that high-speed development and your baby is only 2 millimeters long�about the size of a sesame seed (check one out next time you're chowing down on a bagel�you won't believe how tiny it is!)

Interactive Pregnancy Calendar - Do you know a good Weekly Pregnancy Calendar that I can use?

A. I was looking for the same thing myself -- a pregnancy calendar by week -- so I did a search and came up with a program called PregnanSee. It's a weekly video pregnancy calendar that lets you visualize your stage of pregnancy right on your PC desktop.
It's quite unique by the looks of it and has an interesting design that I liked. There's also an example demo for Week 23/24 on the site that you should watch -- Being the first time I found it quite fascinating.
