I am 17 weeks pregnant, but the size of a house. How can I control my weight gain for the remaining half?

Q. 17 weeks and looking like I am ready to deliver has been very difficult and traumatic for me. I want to know if there are ways to control the second half of my pregnancy weight gain? My doctor suggests a thirty pound weight gain, I am at a little over a third of that gain already and the baby hasn't really even started to grow yet! Help me please!

A. Make HEALTHY choices. And realize that you shouldn't be eating enough for two people. Most women only need relatively few extra calories.

Check with your dr about exercise. You should at the very least be walking & stretching every day (& doing your Kegals too!) All of this will help you have a easier labor also.

I am 20 weeks pregnant and want to know more about ideal weight gain - how much did you gain?
Q. I have gained 7 kilograms (around 14 pounds) and I am in my 20th week.
I am concerned about wight gain as my twin sister gained 30 kilograms (60 pounds)
during her pregnancy. Am I on track so far? Have i gained to much? How much more will I gain?
How do I control pregnancy weight gain?
I was 8 kg overweight when I fell pregnant (16 pounds overweight)

A. The best way to control excessive weight gain is, obviously, eating healthy! Eat small snacks throughout the day and 3-4 healthy meals.Though... Doing that, with each one of my children, my weight gain was far from ideal! My first pregnancy, a boy, I gained 11 lbs. My second pregnancy, a girl, I gained 56lbs. I am currently pregnant and am eager to see what happens this time.

How to lose postpregnancy weight with little or no excercise while breastfeeding?
Q. I had a baby 4 months ago and am unable to lose my last 10 pounds of my 35 pds from pregnancy weight gain. I would like to lose 10 pounds but I know there is a certain amount of weight you have to lose while breastfeeding.

A. Honey you are doing the most important , wonderful thing that you will ever do for your baby! The fact that you have lost all but ten pounds in four months is amazing! You use about 1000 calories every day just making all the milk that your baby drinks in a day! When you wean your baby you will have all the time in the world to worry about losing that little ten pounds that you are worrying about! You really need to concentrate on eating all the things that will help you to produce nutritious milk. As your baby gets older he will need more and more things from your milk. You need to eat a wide variety of good food to provide the necessary things for your baby. Now is certainly NOT the time to think about dieting! Enjoy this time with your baby and you will be SO happy when you look back on it. Remember also that it takes lots of fluid to make milk so always have something to drink in your hand.
This is such a short time in your life. Enjoy it!

What is the least likely place where a tattoo will not stretch or get distorted?
Q. I am planning on getting a very special tattoo for my birthday in memory of a friend and I want it to be in a place where it will not be affected too much by changes that my happen to my body over time ie, pregnancy, weight gain/loss etc...

Any suggestions are appreciated
Thank you
P.S. My ideal place that I would like it to be is just under my rib cage on my side/top of my hip, should it be ok?

A. The things you worry about really don't apply to the foot/ankle or wrist areas. Those places hardly stretch or distort. Where you want to put it would definitely be changed by pregnancy or weight changes.
