Q. I am 10 weeks pregnant and I am getting acne all over my chin! It is so depressing and makes me feel so ugly. I dont even want my husband to look at me! Did you feel the same way? How did he react to it? My husband doesnt say anything, but it looks so horrible he has to notice! I dont like him to see me looking so ugly it makes me feel horrible especially since he has completely clear skn! I dont know what to do. Its so embarrassing It is really upsetting me! Will it go away?
A. my boyfriend has never said anything to me. he loves you for who you are. otherwise, why did you get marrie? you are carrying his child. i think the last thing on his mind is the fact you have a couple pimples. theyll go away afterwards its all just hormones. try not to think about it. easier said then done, i know. itll be worth it in the end. :)
Have you used the DDF Sulfur Mask or DDF Pumice Acne Scrub? Do you like it?
Q. I was just wondering if any of you have tried the DDF Sulfur Mask or the DDF Pumice Acne Scrub (sold at Nordstroms or Sephora) I was thinking about trying them. I have really bad pregnancy acne & the ingrediants in their products arent too harsh to absorb in my bloodstream. How many nights a week do you use the sulfur mask?
A. 3 times a week.. every other day
What kind of birth control pill should i ask my doctor about?
Q. I want a birth control pill that does the following:
HIGHLY effective at preventing pregnancy
Makes acne go away
DOES cause weight gain. I am underweight and have struggled with gaining weight all my life.
Preferably makes my periods only 3-4 days? And only have periods 4 times a year instead of once a month?
-I have never been on birth control before
-I have not had a child

A. All combined pills have a 99.8% efficacy. The only pill licenced for acne is Dianette. I would generalise that I am unhappy about any long term use of Dianette. There have been risk benefit concerns about its use for many years. These MUST at least be explained to any patient using it, in order that they can give informed consent that they still wish to take the drug.
The problem is that Dianette quadruples the risk of DVT, leg clots, which may fire off into the lungs and produce fatal emboli.

Also you need to be aware it only has a short use licence:
"Complete remission of acne is to be expected in nearly all cases, often within a few months, but in particularly severe cases treatment for longer may be necessary before the full benefit is seen. It is recommended that treatment be withdrawn 3 to 4 cycles after the indicated condition(s) has/have completely resolved and that Dianette is not continued solely to provide oral contraception. Repeat courses of Dianette may be given if the androgen-dependent condition(s) recur."
Yasmin is thought to improve acne in a similar way, but without the addition increase in clot risk, so that would be my choice.

Is there any home remedies or anything else that I can do to get rid of my pregnancy acne?
Q. I am 13 1/2 weeks pregnant and I'm sprouting out all over my face and chest. I feel like I'm 13 all over again. Is there anything I can do or take that won't affect my baby or myself that will get rid of or that can lessen my acne? I've already asked my doctor and she told me to just go with it. I know that a doctors advice is always the right advice but I'm sure you ladies out there have tried something that worked.
A. First of all...CONGRATS on your pregnancy!!! I had the same problem with my 1st. The only thing I could do was to cut out the sugar and wash my face regularly. I would exfoliate once a week. Hormones are evil things!! The good news is that once my hormones got under control, the acne went away.
