Does anyone know of a credible pregnancy website?

Q. I just had my first ultrasound today and found out that I am at 6 weeks and 3 days. Does anyone know what is the most credible website that I can view on a day-to-day basis during my pregnancy? I'd like to find one that I can join that will tell me exactly what to expect and what are some precautions or things I should take into consideration at any given point in my pregnancy. Thank you!

A. IVilliage is the best! It has active message boards for everything pregnancy wise...Check is out...It also had week by week growth chart. where you can see how much baby has developed...I don't know what I would have done without that site and yahoo answers pregnancy section while I was preggo...

How long does it take for the belly to really poke out ?
Q. I am very excited about my pregnancy. At the moment my stomach is growing, but not firm so I am feeling very self concious. My boyfriend keeps telling me I look great, but I just feel like I'm getting flabby. Once it gets hard I will be fine.

A. It varies from woman to woman as to how fast the firmness will become obvious, and it also depends on how many pregnancys the woman has had, and the womans body shape, generally you should be obviously pregnant by 16-18 weeks, if you are carring a little extra weight around your tummy it could take longer for that firmness to become obvious, make the most of your soft belly time, once your tummys hard and round it can make things very very uncomfortable...Take some photos of your tummy so you can do a week by week growth chart, you may be surprised to see how fast your tummy grows and how big it actually gets...not to mention its fun to look at them when your not pregnant!

Enjoy your pregnancy!

what are the early signs of pregnancy in a breast feeding mother?
Q. i am breast feeding a five month old. and i suspect that i might be pregnant. what are the early signs of pregnancy in women that are breast feeding?

A. I am breastfeeding my 10 month old and am 9 weeks pregnant with #5. My earliest pregnancy sign was extreme breast/nipple tenderness, fatigue and drowsiness, and frequent urination. My periods were very sparodic and never on a regular monthly cycle, so I never trusted a missed period. We were charting our fertility and trying to conceive again so I took a pregnancy test after I was at least 10 days past my "expected" period date. I was about 5 weeks pregnant when I took my first pregnancy test and it was negative. I'm assuming I didn't have enough human growth hormone for the urine test to detect. But I waited, and a week later, I took another pregnancy test and it was positive.

I would say that pregnancy symptoms are similar to non-nursing women, but I only experienced morning sickness with my very first child and none afterwards. If you feel that you are pregnant, take a test. If it's negative, and you still think you're pregnant, wait a week and test again. If you are still experiencing pregnancy symptoms but aren't pregnant, call your dr or ob/gyn and get some blood work done to rule out anything serious. If you are pregnant and still want to continue breastfeeding, you can! There is no medical research done that has proven adverse effects on fetus or baby while the mother is nursing and pregnant. You might want to contact your local La Leche League or mother's group for resource and support. Congratulations if you are pregnant and best of luck!
