Q. I have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), insulin resistance, and hypothyroidism. I am overweight. Trying very hard to lose, but I recently injured my knee (torn ACL) so that's just made it harder. Anyways I am on 1st round of fertility meds (started before torn ACL and didn't wanna waste the money and cycle). I have concerns over having a healthy pregnancy being overweight, but my doc doesn't seem too worried. Can I have a healthy pregnancy?
A. Sure! I see people with all those issues everyday and they have a healthy pregnancy. It's not as easy, but if you are strict in your diet and devoted to your baby, you'll have a healthy little one!
What are my chances of having a healthy pregnancy and baby after having a stillbirth of unknown causes?
Q. I had a stillborn son, two years ago. We don't know why it happened. I am trying to convince my husband to have another baby, but I also have my own fears. I mean, what if it happens again? Tell me what are my chances of having another stillbirth. What are my chances of having a healthy pregnancy and subsequent birth and baby? Any information, not opinions, are appreciated. Please and thank you in advance.
Does anyone know if my next pregnancy will be categorized as high risk or anything, since my stillbirth?

A. I can't imagine what it must have been like to lose a child...
One option that is available to you is preconception counseling. Ask your OB if they can do that or you. If not, find another! In preconception counseling, your OB will sit down with you, review your history, and perhaps even do some blood work.
Because of your loss, any subsequent pregnancies will be categorized as high risk. That doesn't necessarily mean much more than a few extra visits and some extra ultrasounds, though. You also would not be able to deliver at an "all natural" birthing center.
I hope this information helps you... Book an appointment! Maybe sitting down with a doctor will help to ease your husband's concerns, as well as your own.

What are some things to do to prepare for a healthy pregnancy?
Q. I have a week left of my birth control pills and have decided its time to go off them. My fiance and I are just going to "see what happens". If I get pregnant, then good. What are some things I can do to prepare my body for a healthy pregnancy? I am a bit underweight too and havent been able to gain weight for about 6 months, I keep losing. Is that a problem? I know I should take Folic Acid. How much? Thank you and good luck to you all!
A. Pre natal vitamins are most important. Ask your doctor for them, some pharmacy's give them for free. If you can't go to doctor then get the over the counter brand. SOOOOO IMPORTANT.
What really determines a healthy pregnancy, and at what age?
Q. I don't believe it's all about age...but I know that risk factors for certain defects increase after age 35 for most women. What are the factors that a doctor or other health professional consider for compromised health before pregnancy? I assume the risks come with age, but can a healthy woman tell if they are at higher risk than someone else that may be not so healthy? What really determines factors for a healthy pregnancy?
I feel like my 'biological clock' is ticking...I'm getting nervous! Not married but in a serious relationship...trying to determine if I should hurry or just take my chances later on...

A. if u are trying to become pregnant u should make sure u ar eproperly immunised. ( rubella) for german measles.this helps lower risk of abnormalities such as deafness in your new baby.
u can also try these, stop smoking if u are a smoker or lower the amount of cigarettes, lower alcohol intake, eat more folate inriched foods such as darj green leafy vegies, fruits, yeast extract, nuts, soya linseed bread. these things help to ensure that u are fit and healthy and will also increase the chances of you having a fit and healthy baby.
