How did you prepare during your last 10 weeks of pregnancy?

Q. What did you do during your last 10 weeks of pregnancy to prepare for you little one? I am trying to keep busy to make the time go by a little faster. Any tips on things you did or wished you did??

A. So far during these last 10 weeks i've had my baby shower, washed all the clothes and blankets, rearranged the babys clothes in the dresser like a dozen times, set up its own section in the bathroom of body wash, baby lotion, baby powder, qtips, etc. Gotten the diaper bag ready with al the necessities and picked out two take home outfits to choose from. Got my hospital bag ready. And now im just cleaning and waiting! In the beginning of my 10 weeks it seemed to drag but now it seems to be coming so fast. Good luck!!

How far along am I really in my pregnancy?
Q. I was told by my doctor that my baby is measuring 9 weeks 4 days and my due date is the end of September. However most weekly pregnancy calendars say that I'm in my 10th week of pregnancy. Am I 9 weeks along or 10 weeks along?

A. you,re obsessing about this. don,t worry, all pregnant moms do this. my wife argued with the doc for months about when the baby was due. she won, she had the baby. so will you.

At what point during pregnancy did you get really nauseas?
Q. I have been a bit nauseas, but I just hit week 10 and I've been nauseas NON stop. Even when I'm sleeping. Is this normal?

A. by week 10 it was slowing down a little, gone by week 13 and now i am 36 weeks and get it once in a while again.

How many days before your missed period did you have pregnancy symptoms?
Q. Did anyone get pregnancy symptoms 10 days before you missed your period? Sore boobs and mild nausea?

A. Julie:
Highly unlikely that you would have any pregnancy symptoms 10 days prior to your period due date. If you are ovulating late in your cycle there is a possibility that your hormonal shift is making you a little nauseous.

Once you ovulate - it takes the sperm up to 5 days to find the egg and fertilize it. Them it takes 10 days for the egg to implant into your uterus. Once the egg is fertilized your hormone levels begin to surge (which is usually around the day you should get your period) this is also when you can take a home pregnancy test to see if you are pregnant. Tender breast usually appear around week 5 of your pregnancy and morning sickness usually kicks in around week 6 when your hormones are really surging.

Good luck

Q. Is is possible to hear the heartbeat before week 10?

A. Its usually 10-14 weeks. It depends on if the doctor looks long enough, the pre pregnancy weight of the mother.. and the position of the baby.

When did you start showing with your second child?
Q. I am 9 weeks (10 weeks tomorrow) pregnant with my second child! I am already starting to show a little and have been for a couple weeks. My son is 2 and I am 18 lbs. lighter than I was with my first pregnancy...so I am sure that may have a little something to do with it. I was wondering when everyone else started showing the second time around?

A. you normally show in about half the time you did in your first one,it's something to do with your body knowing what to do this time.

What is the correlation between pregnancy weeks and months?
Q. You have 9 months in a pregnancy and 40 weeks. How many weeks are considered to be in each month or trimester.

A. You are actually pregnant for about 10 months.

10 months multiplied by 4 weeks in a month= 40 weeks

when does your stomach start to show during pregnancy?
Q. Im in my first pregnancy and only 10 weeks pregnant but it feels like my stomach is swollen and Its defentially got a little but everyones noticing....arent I too early to start showing though is it just fat?

A. It all depends on the person. Me, being a bigger girl, I didn't start showing until around 22-24 weeks. However, I know some girls that started showing at 12 weeks.. Either way, congratulations on your pregnancy!

How do you represent range on a graph?
Q. For a biology assignment that I have I need to represent a range of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) levels during pregnancy weeks.

For example, week 1 is 5-50. So on this one I need to represent the range on the y axis. However, weeks 25-40 have 3,640-117,000 for their levels. So that is range on both the x and y axis. How do I show this?

A. Use an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of graph paper ruled 10 x 10 per inch. For the X-axis, use 2 divisions per week, for a total of 80 divisions, leaving 0.3" on one side and 0.2" on the other. For the Y-axis start 0.4" or 0.5" from the bottom of the page Label this line 1. go up 2 " and label that line 10 Label the 4" line 100, the 6" line 1,000, the 8" line 10,000, and the 10" line 100,000. This gives you a logarithmic scale. Instead of plotting the actual HCG levels, plot
2*Log(HCG), and label the point with the actual level.

Using a linear scale will make the low level values in the first few weeks indistinguishable form 0.

If my morning sickness eases up, does that mean it will eventually go away all together?
Q. I'm 11w2d pregnant and i've seen a pattern in my morning sickness. I know that some people say it CAN stay for the entire pregnancy, but I just want to know what you people think. I started getting sick around week 5, was VERY sick week 6-7, got a little better week 8-9, week 10 was even better, and week 11 has been even better. I still get nauseous from time to time, but do you think this means it is going to go away soon?

A. Sounds like to me its easing up quite a bit for you. Thats how it was with me except I had it really bad starting at exactly 6 weeks all the way until I was 17 weeks...Its not fun having morning sickness. I ended up in the ER two too many times....talk about a huge health bill...
