Are there any good sites for staying fit during pregnancy?

Q. I would be interested in anything. I'm especially looking for pregnancy yoga, I love doing yoga but I'm unsure about which exercises are safe & which ones are beneficial to my cause, lol. Thanks all!

A. Your public library is a great place to pick up yoga DVD's designed specifically for pregnancy. You'll have to try a few before you decide which style you like. You can also request DVD purchases at your library (patron request). They are usually very happy to fulfill these requests as they do not always know what their patrons will want.

Here are a few titles to get you started. You may find that you will want to purchase a favorite at some point. Find good quality used copies on amazon or ebay.

*Yoga Journal and Lamaze present: Yoga for your pregnancy

*Prenatal Yoga: A Complete Home Practice for a Healthy Mother and Baby

*Dr. Christine Anderson's Dynamic Prenatal Yoga

What's a good way to organize and store hangers?
Q. I'm packing for a move and will be putting most of my clothes that don't fit (pre-pregnancy) away and won't be using hangers. I don't wanna throw them away but don't want to sort them for hours when I unpack them. What's the best way to store them?

A. Just get a big plastic bin, label it-Hangers and store it

What are some great ways to stay fit during pregnancy regarding exercise?
Q. I haven't exercised all that good during and before my pregnancy. I was hoping you guys can tell me about some safe and useful exercises during pregnancy? Currently 17 weeks and 5 days pregnant (:

A. Walking. Walk walk walk walk.

You should be getting in 10,000 steps in a day.

What did you do to stay fit during pregnancy?
Q. I am planning on trying to get pregnant soon. We have a treadclimber. Can I still use it to have a small workout daily? What did you do to stay active? How much weight did you gain with your pregnancy?
My 1st I gained 50
My 2nd I gained 13
My 3rd I gained 25

A. It's best to start you workout routine pre-pregnancy so your body is use to it.
I do cardio about 30-60 minutes 7 days a week and drink lots of water.
So far I have gained about 11 pounds at 27 weeks.

Modeling for Fit Pregnancy Magazine etc?

Q. I'm wondering how I should go about finding a reputable modeling agency that could connect me to the Fit Pregnancy magazine or other places that want pregnant models?
I live 2 hours from LA where the Fit Pregnancy mag. shoots and they want to cast locally. I would like to at least try to see what happens. Does anyone have any info? I live in the Palm Springs,Ca area :)
Thanks!

A. Expecting Models in NYC is the only agency in the country I know of that represents pregnant women
http://expectingmodels.com/

What you can do is either call Expecting in NY to see if they represent LA-based models, or if they have a sister agency in LA. Or call the magazine directly and ask which agencies they book their models through

How long does it take to get ballet-fit after a pregnancy? Anyone with experience of this?
Q. How long will it take me to get back my fit & supple ballet-body after my baby is born? I want to start my studies in Musical Theatre ASAP after the birth. Anyone done this before?

A. I personally have not been in this situation, but, a friend/teacher of mine has. One of the things that helped her is that she trained as much as she could for as long as she could. She danced up until 8 months mostly doing barre at that point and very easy center work (no turns and no jumps). It took after she had her child probably 7-8 months. The average time it takes for any woman is 9 months usually. However, every woman is different so the time varies. Things you can do when you cannot do a strenuous class can be light yoga or pilates. Pilates esp. will help bring your core back. The key is to start light and build up as much as your body will allow. Diet is also important. If you want the ballet body back faster, you have to be very strict about what you eat and how you prepare it. Less carbs and more protein will help develop the lean muscle mass you are looking for and of course plenty of fruits and veggies. Dairy products also have recently been proven to help women slim down as well.

How many dress/pants sizes did you go up due to your hips spreading after pregnancy?
Q. This is really for those who were able to get back to their pre-pregnancy weight but still had trouble fitting into their pre-pregnancy clothes. If you feel like sharing, I'd really appreciate your experience. Thanks!

A. I gained TOO much pregnant with my son- 70Lbs but I had to get almost 10Lbs below my pre-preg weight to fit the clothes again b/c of hips spreading and what not. My shirts had trouble fitting again too cause I went B to DD then back down to D lol. I am 5ft3 barely too... so 10Lbs is a lot on my frame, to give you an idea, about 2sizes... meaning at pre-preg weight about a 5 rather than a 3.

How come my wife was able to fit in pre-pregnancy jeans just days after having the baby?
Q. She is 29 and has always been thin. She weighs 120 pounds, never exercises, and eats more than average. She just had a kid and the weight came off in a day, and can still fit in her size 2 pants. Both of her parents are overweight. I am just curious how she was able to get thin so fast.

A. Shes a freak of nature!! lol, jk!! Some woman are just very lucky...i was not one of those woman lol...it took me about 2months to get back into my pre preg clothes.

A. Usually you can go to the websites of the magazines and at the bottom they have a "contact us" button. You can start there and see how it goes. Good luck

How did your second pregnancy compare to your first pregnancy?
Q. Just curious:)

My first pregnancy wasn't too bad. My biggest complaint is that I was tired all day, every day. I gained a total of 35 lbs. I didn't have any complications.. I had the epidural & I had a vaginal delivery.

I am now 6 months pregnant.. I look like I did when I was 8 months pregnant w/ my son.. I am gaining weight much quicker. I am waddling like a duck already. I have cramps, aches & back pains. I have 3 months to go.. hopefully the delivery goes smoothly.

A. I totally hear you!!!! I am 34 weeks with a girl and my son is 23 months old. This second pregnancy was so much more difficult. I was sick more at the beginning, I had to go to the emergency room twice with bleeding in my first trimester.... I can't sleep, I developed restless leg syndrome, my back is killing me (I think I will be crippled after this), and yes, I am huge - definetally bigger than I was with my first one (I can't fit in any of my old pregnancy clothes by now)... I am also waddling like a duck and I am terrified of the labor...looking at this pregnancy - what else is going to happen???? (scream....ripping my hair out...lol)

How much weight did you lose while pregnant before you finally started to gain?

Q. I'm 14 weeks along and I've lost 11 pounds so far. I would've thought that since this is my fourth pregnancy, I'd be gaining by now but I guess not. I'm not complaining though. Those 11 pounds put me into jeans that didn't fit pre-pregnancy!

A. Don't worry. I've been gaining weight for you.
